Yeah, I’m not into farming virtual crops anymore. It was a lot of fun for years, but I got tired of rhw daily grind, and pretty much done with all the mindless mouse clicking to make virtual ingredients and food. I spent a {mumble-mumble}-ton of virtual currency on things to make it less tedious, but it’s just not sparking that joy. So far, $L707 worth of stuff has sold. As space clears out, more stuff will be hauled out of inventory.

The #SecondLife STEAM hunt is on, alongside a bunch of other springtime hunts. So after about a week, I started my speedrun. One of the first gifts I found was this cute robot-penguin dance floor that rotates. It looks nice up in the Secret Garden platform for now. I used to stress out about participating in the grid-wide STEAM Hunt years ago, but I did enjoy it. The organizers announced that applications were open for Steam XX, “The Waltz of the Automatons,” and I really was tempted, but didn’t have any great ideas. Recently, I’ve been taking a really good…

It’s Groundhog Day, and it’s also St Brigid’s Day, and the Celtic festival of Imbolc. In #SecondLife, my friend Holocluck Henly puts on a dance with a special set list for holidays like this. So when I got the announcement I juggled some fantasy outfits and joined the circle dance around the bonfire. Some songs were clever choices – even heard a Professor Elemental number, and Robert Morse and Rudy Vallee singing about the mighty Groundhogs…

Just now in #SecondLife, I received yet another unwanted “conference call” from someone I barely know. This time, I decided that it’s time to “unfriend” them. We attended some meetings at least 15-16 YEARS ago, and became friends due to a shared interest in politics, probably via mutual friends in the Cafe Wellstone group. That group is mostly just social now, although we discuss things we’re involved with in RL. After attending a few meetings organized by that person, I realized that they were much more committed to a far-left POV than I am; I’m PRETTY LIBERAL, but I’m not…

While I divest and draw down my DFS inventory in #SecondLife to something simple and manageable, I was reminded that I bought the same creator’s water tank add-on from an inworld vendor, but never received it. I had seen people using the Root Cellar add-on about 3 years ago and it looked really slick (and was working fine then). Random Creations Root Cellar for DFS v2.0 Turns out people who bought it on the Second Life Marketplace liked it for a few days, then it stopped working and it did not allo them to get their no-copy inventory back. Probably…

My quest to get rid of the DFS stuff in my #SecondLife inventory was put on pause while I re-jiggered my parcel of virtual land. And then I thought “Hey, I could have just a *small* farm, a *cute* farm, and do it without having a store or stall or shop selling produce or meat.” HAH! Of the stuff I put out for sale, some has sold and I’ve been trying to send sales announcements at least every other day. I hate marketing. The funny thing is, I keep having to replace tools and plants that I sold off the…

There are dozens of #SecondLife mesh bodies and hundreds of virtual fashion designers. Creators have to design multiple versions to rig to different mesh body brands. Last year, I bought the one that’s insanely complex but extremely adjustable and modifiable. I’ve barely dipped a virtual mesh toe in all its features, but I’m good at screwing up the settings. Buy the innovative Star Mesh Body. Second Life’s most advanced & realistic female mesh body & head combo with advanced HUD & editing options. It’s a little TOO realistic but fortunately the HUD can turn off the visibility of the naughty…

My card is a GTX 4070 Super, but I made these changes and will check frame rate later. I attended a DJ/dance at Cafe Wellstone with NO issues and good framerates. Via: NVIDIA Users – settings that will make SL smoother

I’ve got back rent to pay and a mess in my inventory; some of my mainland parcels went poof and it’s time to scale back even more. It’s time to think about deleting a lot of my “store” and try to unload the no-copy DFS items that technically can be sold. Dhughan may be scaling back greatly, also. The latest Firestorm is too much for my 12-15 year old CPU and I was limping along on a “Legacy” PBR viewer. I looked weirdly shiny and only lasted 20 minutes at a friend’s DJ event before I got a memory error…

It’s been a year since I last logged in to Second Life, or updated here. Why? I got frustrated with trying to learn Blender yet again, with PBR just coming in I got frustrated with feeling like stuff I had created was hopelessly outdated I felt pressured by another resident to be! Friends! In! Voice! And felt skeeved. I realized that I no longer wanted to take the time to “craft” and “sell” stuff. I recognized that my desktop computer might need to be replaced with PBR coming. First Life got busy over the holidays My couch was much more…
