Just now in #SecondLife, I received yet another unwanted “conference call” from someone I barely know. This time, I decided that it’s time to “unfriend” them. We attended some meetings at least 15-16 YEARS ago, and became friends due to a shared interest in politics, probably via mutual friends in the Cafe Wellstone group. That group is mostly just social now, although we discuss things we’re involved with in RL. After attending a few meetings organized by that person, I realized that they were much more committed to a far-left POV than I am; I’m PRETTY LIBERAL, but I’m not…

I’m still here! Alive! And getting better. I had a stroke 2 months ago and it’s been a struggle. But I’m still in #SecondLife and hope to reconnect with old friends. Also joined the Virtual Ability group, as they offer support. Virtual Ability Meanwhile, bought a virtual medical-grade cane, and Dhughan has plans to revive his walking stick shop to add an animated cane for someone who walks with difficulty. I was dancing earlier at SL22B at an event, that was very nice! Now trying to stay calm and keep up with blood pressure meds…

My card is a GTX 4070 Super, but I made these changes and will check frame rate later. I attended a DJ/dance at Cafe Wellstone with NO issues and good framerates. Via: NVIDIA Users – settings that will make SL smoother

I wish I could watch this unfold. #KevinMcCarthy being #Humiliated is #schadenfreude Following Tuesday’s chaotic House vote that initially denied Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) his long sought-after speakership, several CNN anchors and reporters took turns dunking on the Republican leader for finding new ways to embarrass himself. — Read on www.thedailybeast.com/cnn-anchors-zing-kevin-mccarthy-his-humiliation-knows-no-bounds

My friend DJ Pb Recreant has a regular gig playing tunes at the Blue Booby Bar in Escanes, mostly for members of the Cafe Wellstone politics and news chat group. He always has a pretty eclectic mix and takes requests. On a whim I sent copies of the new St Patrick’s Day mesh vest for men that I put together from a kit to him and some of the other Cafe Wellstone guys, after he sent out a group message announcing the gig. Very kindly he sent back this screencap showing off the vest! That was really nice of him.…

I took some time on the last weekend day of SL9B to go around on my own and experience a few more exhibits. Strangely, I didn’t take pictures, I just… played. I especially liked the ‘History of Second Life’ exhibit, and spent some time there reading notecards and making “bonk” noises going through. Then I spent a lot of time taking pictures of various stages. Unfortunately, the “mesh” Lake stage photo didn’t get saved properly – forgot to refresh the image. ARGH! Here’s a small gallery of photos… mostly of stages and friends’ builds. I ran into my friend Mistletoe…

Yes, yes, yes, it’s a long long time since there’s been a new post here. We’ve been busy procrastinating to get ready for STEAM 5, which started on September 1. Well, I was ready at about 2am that morning, and Miss Lelani was ready at… 4am. As per usual, we concentrated on builds and sorting textures and left the actual building of the gifts for the last possible moment. In our defense, we can only say that real life got a little interesting, in the Chinese curse sense of the word, and every weekend in August ended up getting co-opted…

Creativ(ity) is an easy kill. A simple search of creativity killers yields a multitude of would be candidates: television, the Internet, inflexibility, too much flexibility, fear, lack of fear, goals, lack of goals, time pressure, too much time. The list is sizable. via Phasing Grace | Social Architectures and Virtual Worlds: A Penchant for Creativity – Knights and Nobles. Wow! Yes. I am a little behind on a commitment I made to myself and to others to create, create, create. And the killers are all listed above, but chiefly “fear, surprise, terror, and an almost ruthless INefficiency” which causes me…

Yes, it’s that time again – the third annual STEAM hunt (which actually happens a bit more frequently than that, but time does odd things inworld). I’ve been easing back into things, trying to get some time to get inworld. Problem is, I’m completely out of the habit, there’s much too much good stuff to watch on the teevee, and I’m behind on a lot of projects. However, with a new STEAM hunt, I think I’ll get motivated again to build stuff soon. Real soon. Just to prove to Betsy that I’m really truly talking up her book over at…
