Insightful new thought-leader emerges in Second Life, so look for @StopClengBenk to start his libelous smears on the Twitter soon. Also, it’s Bewbie Wednesday! Please, won’t someone remember the chickens? The first step for those who try to undermine our way of life is always to have us start fighting amongst ourselves. That way we are too busy to notice their machinations. They have succeeded in starting a grid-wide civil war between the bunnies and the ponies. Have you noticed that nobody is even talking about the poor chickens? Wake up people! They’re trying to tear us apart! Dhughan attended yet another class on sculpted prims, and came away shaking his head at choices offered if we want to get serious about making stuffs again – and not get too frustrated at our inability to make anything besides blobs. Sculptypaint, for all its excellent freeness, is really limited in its usefulness. It’s marvelous for producing simple-ish geometric shapes, which can also be twisted and textured in the program. It’s a steller smoother, if a sculpt has been produced with a different program. But for detailed sculpting, or a carved or high-relief look, not easy to use. So hey,…

Long story. It started with a Tweeter from Philip Linden, saying something rather tactless about tip jars: “Note to cafe owners: Don’t use an opaque tip box. People are sheep.“ The next thing I know, the Church of SecondLieology sent me a herd of sheep, but they were dead on arrival. I think. What does this glowing, circular arrowy thingy do when I clicky-clicky?? Maybe I’d better ask the new guy. MySheepsTheyAreDed_001, originally uploaded by Lelani Carver.

Yep, web-enabled profiles are here and have been for a while apparently. When I looked at mine just now, I realized I needed to fix some outdated stuff. The land is still for sale, though, and my new project is progressing although RL commitments cut into building time. Prices have been reduced and it’s finally showing in search. Also, I put out some freebies on both parcels – a silly Ceiling Cat T- shirt I made using a photo I took at last year’s Chicago W00tstock nerdfest. Drop by, pick one up, mock my dumb half-finished build, listen to the…

This is just the kind of impractical yet endearingly retro design that would work well in Second Life as a scripted vehicle. Before the world completely gave up on the notion of flying cars, manufacturer Leyat decided that we can fly without ever leaving the ground; all we need is an overpowered engine and a dangerously light chassis. Sporting an 8 horsepower radial plane engine and an over-sized wooden propeller, it took a while for Leyat to come up with a relatively safe design. Originally planned as a 3-wheeler, this idea was scrapped when the prototype crashed over, and over…

Northfarthing is a pleasant fantasy-medieval sim, and recently it’s gotten a mountain-sized makeover. A lot of the old Abbey remains, but it’s been completely rebuild on one side and has lots of balconies with nice views of the new mountains, an intriguing ruin, and a beautiful rocky stone-henge. The old Green Dragon inn is gone, and some of the other places I remember; but the remaining homes, cottages and castles are really pretty. Also, there’s stuff to buy. But the mountains were the big surprise, as there was nothing but empty sea surrounding Northfarthing before. Now it’s enclosed by a…
