If you’re going to sell virtual products, you’ve got to market virtual products. I get a LOT of emails from various marketing groups (I have IMs set to go to emails). Most of those messages are about new products, and they get deleted immediately, because the SUBJECT LINE tells me nothing about the new product. Most inworld marketers waste the title or subject line by using it to say “New! At Mystore!” Or they say “Brand Name at Big Shopping Event” or even goofy messages like “Check notecard for the new stuff! Kiss-kiss!” What??? I have to go inworld to…

Whatever happened to virtual world Second Life after the flurry of hype and influx of brands in 2005 and 2006? You dont hear much about it nowadays. Actually, Second Life never went away; it was the media and brands that once flocked to it who melted away. The worlds existing community of around 1m users carried on with their virtual lives much as they had before. via Virtual world Second Life to be reincarnated, with Oculus Rift | Technology | theguardian.com. Some on SLUniverse poo-poohed my post of this story there, since I thought it was funny to add a…

In addition to the product update, I’ve also become aware that Spring has Sprung at last. Thanks to a truly generous promotional offer called “the Blue Bunny Hunt” 21strom, I was able to bring on the spring at the Steelhead Nature Preserve. It’s been a long, hard winter for many, so it’s a pleasure to make this parkland available for all. Later on, there will be new green and autumnal trees as well. The black-and-white Zen-looking poseballs are for tai chi. The poses are very high quality and smooth. There are chiming trees scattered around that give autumn and summer…

Yes, yes, all very well; I have finally had some hours (HOURS I SAY) to myself to muddle through a product update. It’s only been 65% complete for ::mumble mumble:: weeks now. But at last I am more than happy (and quite relieved) to release an improvement to one of my somewhat popular products: “Without my walking stick, I’d go insane… I can’t look my best, I feel undressed without my cane.” IMPROVED – Textures have been thoroughly refreshed to add a more Victorian design aesthetic. Includes the previous version, which is plainer and not as detailed. The animations are…

The image is based on a screenphoto taken at sunset in one of the Japanese-themed sims of Second Life, with a bit of arty post-processing. The screen is moddable and the package includes the original image. “Dancing Oiran” Another piece…

If new Second Life CEO Ebbe Altberg had remained in Second Life during the last decade, after the initial beta test, would he still own land? or would he have given up due to high tier or homestead pricing changes?

Time for boycat Dinkies and male Tinies to have a decent walking stick with simple animations – so I started to adapt the Ivory Walking Stick, which is old enough to need some freshening up. I started by testing some nicer textures for the ivory, and setting it in a sort of cup-bezel with engraved silver fittings (I may play with materials a bit if they don’t add greatly to the land impact (LI). Then I resized it to the right length for a Dinkie or Tiny avatar, and got the pos/rot information with a script so as to update…
